Corra Group Expands Employment Screening for Companies Recruiting Foreign Workers

To meet the increased needs of its clients, Corra Group is expanding its international employment screening services so it provides a full range of background checks in most countries. The El Segundo, California headquartered background checking company can provide a complements of background checks to assist its clients in determining the quality of validity of their foreign employment candidates.

“Once upon a time, companies took the candidates at their word,” said Corra Group Co-Founder, Gordon Basichis. “A candidate would claim a college degree or maintain he had no negative criminal or civil history and all was right with the world. But as time moves on and the need grows for foreign workers, some recruiters find those claims are not necessarily the case.

“Corra Group can provide a full range of international background checks for an employment screening package,” said Basichis. “These searches can include criminal and civil history, employment verification, and perhaps most importantly, education verification. Where candidates can mostly resort to fiction is in their claiming degrees at universities and colleges that they were only enrolled in for a limited time, or, in some cases, where they never went near the school.”

Basichis cautioned that with the COVID surges and incumbent labor shortages the turnaround times for background checks in most countries are slower than previously. He noted that law enforcement and civil agencies are experiencing disruptions and schools are closed for periods of times and less accessible.

“The great demand from companies hiring foreign workers is for international criminal background checks,” said Basichis. “That’s the most sensitive issue, followed by the need for international education verification, before a company represents that candidate as having the necessary skills sets required for production or for client interface.

Corra Group is Expanding Its Due Diligence for Clients Seeking Alternative Vendors to Augment Their Supply Chains

Corra Group is expanding its due diligence efforts to assist its clients in vetting potential vendors of critical materials that may boost their supply chains. As evidenced in a recent article on CNBC, entitled, “Supply chain chaos is already hitting global growth. And it’s about to get worse,” supply chain bottlenecks are in a variety of industrial sectors.

“Manufacturers are looking for alternate sources,” said Corra Group Co-Founder, Gordon Basichis. “Rather than hope and wait for critical materials to be shipped across the water and finally unloaded in the backlogged ports, and then delivered from the ports to their local destination, manufacturers and distributors are looking for more local and regional sources for the materials necessary to augment their supply chains.

“It’s no easy task,” said Basichis. ”There is a major difference between often smaller vendors who say they can deliver the materials and those who can make good on their promise. Corra Group conducts due diligence for its clients to help ascertain whether a company is truly a viable source. Corra Group conducts a series of background checks, including criminal records searches, criminal records, and reputational or source interviews with persons familiar with the principals of a potential vendor and the business itself.”

Basichis offered that Corra Group conducts due diligence and business research on a domestic and international basis. He noted that Corra Group conducts business credit reports, world-wide, and when necessary, can arrange to have local assets conduct on-the-ground investigation. He said that Corra Group services global investigative groups as well as larger corporations. He added as the supply chains have worsened, Corra Group has been approached by smaller companies who are finding it even more challenging to source critical materials, as they don’t have the buying clout of the larger business entities.

Corra Group Prepares for a Holiday Hiring Season Hampered by Worker Shortages and Supply Chain Disruptions

Corra Group is ramping up for a holiday hiring season that is not without its challenges, not the least of which are supply chain disruptions and worker shortages. As evidenced in a recent article on CNBC, entitled, “Lack of workers is further fueling supply chain woes,” the El Segundo, California headquarter background checking company foresees one of the more strenuous holiday seasons in decades.

“Our clients are already having difficulty finding workers or for that matter sourcing critical materials in their supply chain that our necessary to stay in business and retain their existent workforces,” said Corra Group Co-Founder, Gordon Basichis. “Now comes the holiday season with its incumbent expectations where consumers expect both goods on shelves and at least adequate customer service. In both cases, this holiday season may prove quite the challenge.

“We do a lot of business with trucking and transportation clients,” said Basichis. “Truckers are often telling us they are desperate for drivers, and we provide Motor Vehicle Driving Records (MVRS), PSP Driver Safety Reports, and criminal records searches to a variety of trucking and transportation companies. Now these companies are saying drivers are increasingly difficult to find and this will impact delivery schedules on both the interstate and local routes.”

Basichis offered retailers and fulfillment centers are also voicing staffing concerns as well as delivery delays with goods they typically sell during the holiday season. He noted that while employers are still requiring background checks, they are hoping for quick turnaround times on employment screening results so that they can onboard new hires with expedition. Basichis added that since many county courthouses are also experiencing staffing shortages, this is creating delays that can exacerbate the hiring process.
