Corra Group Prepares to Implement the New Electronic Drug Collection Form for Its Trucking Clients

Corra Group is preparing to implement the new electronic Chain of Custody Form for its trucking and transportation drivers. The new CCF will allow trucking companies to dispense with the more traditional five-part paper custody and control forms that have been the standard and streamline operations with an online ordering system for DOT mandated drug tests.

As evidenced on its website, The Department of Transportation, last year, published a Final Rule on April 13, 2015 allowing employers, collectors, laboratories and Medical Review Officers (MROs) to use electronic Custody and Control Forms for their drug testing,” said Corra Group Co-Founder, Gordon Basichis. This is a major breakthrough as the electronic CCF collects and transmits the same employer, donor, collector, MRO and specimen information as the traditional paper forms. The eCCF’s use an electronic, online process that simplifies the procedure.

“In the past, getting the driver a paper Custody and Control Form could be difficult if the driver was on the road or working remotely,” said Basichis. “You had to overnight or snail mail, something costly and deliberate to assure he was DOT compliant went he went in for his drug test. With the online system, you will be able create an electronic CCF and email it to him. Very simple.”

Basichis noted that Corra Group is eager to offer the electronic DOT drug testing system as soon as it comes online. He said he was told by Corra Group’s partners at Quest Diagnostics that implementation could be expected shortly and that the final phase was assuring that the drug collection sites could accommodate the eCFF form.

Corra Group Undergoes a Change in Strategy for Its DOT Compliant Random Management Drug Testing Consortium

Corra Group has revised its strategy to better accommodate larger trucking and transportation companies and their Random Management Drug Testing Pools for Department of Transportation compliance mandates. The El Segundo, California based background checking service will now accept trucking companies with fifty drivers or more into Random Management Consortium.

“Corra Group previously accepted any trucking company to enter its Random Management Consortium,” said Corra Group Co-Founder, Nick Gustavson. “But going forward we will only be pursuing trucking and transportation companies who have fifty drivers or more. The higher volume allows us to better service the mid-sized companies while assuring a certain consistency in the management service. We can provide a complete trucking employment screening package.

“The smaller companies, we are finding, are often disorganized and unstable, going out of business with little or no warning,” said Gustavson. “For their minimal number of drivers, they are often disproportionately labor intensive when compared to the larger trucking firms.”

Gustavson pointed out that the energy surge of several years ago promoted an urgent need for truck drivers to work in the gas and oil fields in places like Wyoming, Oklahoma, and North Dakota. He noted that since the decline in energy demand, many of the trucking companies have been reduced in size or have gone out of business.

Corra Group Readies to Provide the New Electronic Chain of Custody Forms for Trucking Groups in Need of DOT Drug Testing

As drug testing facilities move forward with the new electronic drug testing format approved by the Department of Transportation, last April, Corra Group is preparing to provide its trucking and transportation clients with the new DOT approved electronic chain of custody forms. The DOT Amendment will expand its definition of chain of custody forms, or CCF’s, to include both paper and electronic forms. This groundbreaking amendment is posted and detailed in the April, 2015 edition of the Federal Register.

“This is great news for trucking companies,” said Corra Group Co-Founder, Gordon Basichis. “The electronic CFF’s will greatly facilitate a trucking and transportation company in its ability to order drug tests on its drivers to meet the DOT Compliance Mandates.”

Basichis pointed out the new DOT Chain of Custody Form will go a long way to eventually replacing the more conventional five-pare CCF that has for decades been used as the necessary documentation for all workplace drug testing, for the end-to-end process of drug test ordering, specimen collection, and the documentation of the final drug testing results. He noted the electronic CCF will convey the same information concerning the employer, donor, collector, Medical Review Officer, and the resulting specimen information.

“Corra Group has long been partnered with Quest Diagnostics for conducting DOT regulated drug testing,” said Basichis. “Quest Diagnostics expects that their online electronic interface process will gain approval from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Laboratory Certification Program early in 2016. As soon as approval is granted, Corra Group will be able to offer the new electronic drug testing program to all of its trucking clients.
