Portage, WI is in the process of changing their predominately used index to a new operating system over the next 60 to 90 days. As a result, orders will be processed through the court clerks until the conversion is complete. We appreciate your patience as delays will be encountered during this transition.

For North Dakota County Criminal Searches, there will no longer be a pass through court fee.

Apparently, there are flaws in the Texas State Criminal Records System.  This is the state-wide criminal search put out by the Department of Public Safety.  As many investigators and employers use this both for research and employment screening, one would think these background checks would be accurate and up to date.   Not the case.

According to an article on KENS, Channel Five, in San Antonio, there are some alarming discrepancies in the criminal records.  One person is listed for post possession, but in fact he is a convicted murder.  That’s a big distinction, even if you are among those who still believes marijuana is the work of the Devil.

Another convicted murderer was sentenced to death.  His conviction is not listed in the database.   A third convicted murder assaulted and killed a seven year old girl.  He is scheduled for execution, shortly.   But his name and murder conviction is not in the database.

Those employers who conduct county criminal records and county civil records for their preemployment screening purposes should be aware that county courthouses around the country will be closed for the Thanksgiving Holidays.

You can expect county courthouses to start closing early Wednesday, November 23rd, and they will remain closed for Thanksgiving Day, November 24th, and Black Friday, November 25th.  The courts will be open again Monday, November 28th.

So for those conducting background checks, expect some minor delays from certain courthouses.

For those wishing to pull county criminal records and county civil records as background checks for employment screening purposes, please be aware that the Massachusetts and New Hampshire County Courts are experiencing delays due to the weekend snow storm.

A winter storm in the Northeast has forced the closure of several Massachusetts and New Hampshire courts.

Massachusetts reports 9 court closures.
New Hampshire reports 6 courts closed including Hillsborough South Courthouse.

Additionally, the Massachusetts Superior Court computer system is reporting that the system is down until 11/1/2011. Mass district courts are unaffected.

For those conducting background checks as part of their employment screening program, please be aware that Monday October 10th is Columbus Day.  All County and Federal Courts will be closed so there will be a slight delay in retrieving criminal and civil records.

Courts will reopen on Tuesday, October 11th, and we will be able to process all county and criminal records.

Washington, DC-area courts have announced that due to last week’s earthquake, the National Archives will be closed until further notice. The National Archives Website reports that the Washington National Records Center in Suitland, MD will be closed on August 30 and 31. Court clerks are accepting archive requests but they are not providing estimates of when the records will be returned.

For those conducting country criminal records searches as part of your employment screening program, please be advised of delays.    The county courthouses, due to the weather conditions created by Hurricane Irene have had difficulty with turnaround times.

Delays are to be expected in the below listed states.  Much of the areas have been affected to some degree by Hurricane Irene.  Power outages and backlog continue to affect the areas.  Some courthouses are accessible; therefore, results may be intermittent over the next couple of days.  Omni Data Retrieval will continue to update your searches with any extended delay information.

I guess it shouldn’t come as a shock that there are cutbacks in government.  Just about every county courthouse has cut back on staff, reducing the workforce inside the county courthouses.  This has caused slight delays when conducting background checks for most county criminal and country civil records.

Washignton D.C. is no exception.  Considering the budget crisis, the lousy economy, and allthis reancor over the debut ceiling, Washington D.C courthouses are among the hardest hit with cutbacks.

Cutbacks are the rule in D.C. Reduced courthouse archive staff means slower turnaround for archived material. The standard turnaround time was 2-3 weeks, but researchers have been warned to expect significant delays. Of course, Corra Group will work diligently to turn around archived material as quickly as the system allows. When we receive a request that requires archived information, we contact clients to see whether they want to wait for the archived material or whether they prefer to receive the results on hand.  Our researchers check daily for any archived material that has been requested from the court.
