Corra Group Assists Trucking Companies with their Compliance Background Checks as the Industry Shows a Downturn

As the Trucking and Transportation Industry experiences a variety of challenges facing the early quarter of 2015, Corra Group is assisting truckers with their Department of Transportation compliance mandates by offering discounted pricing on motor vehicle driving records and other employment screening services. According to a January 22nd article on CNN, the trucking industry as a whole may see as much as 20 thousand layoffs by June, with most of it related to the drivers in the oil and gas related industries.

“We are seeing a drop in new hires with our trucking clients who service the oil and natural gas industries,” said Corra Group Co-Founder, Gordon Basichis. “It was booming for quite a few years, but now with the declining price of gas and, especially, oil, there isn’t the demand there was for drivers just a couple of years ago.

“The energy industry has been to some extent a rags to riches situation,” said Basichis. “With so many oil and gas fields up in North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, and so many other states, it was as if Christmas came early for a good many truckers. The work is tough, but the pay is rewarding. When it is booming truckers are in high demand. But now, that is not so much the case. When there’s talk of laying off some twenty thousand drivers, that can prove damaging to the industry, especially, and the economy, overall.”
