Corra Group is preparing for the seasonal escalation from accounting firms who are gearing up to prepare for the tax season. The El Segundo headquartered background checking service is offering a variety of employment screening searches, including international criminal and civil searches, as well as employment credit reports.

“This is the time when accounting firms are gearing up for tax season,” said Corra Group Co-Founder, Nick Gustavson. “Accounting firms typically expand this time of year, hiring temporary staff and independent contractors. In a year when the economy has turned around, we expect hiring to be unusually robust.

“We find a fair number of accounting personnel to be recent immigrants,” said Gustavson. “in additional to our certified professionals and accounting screening package we are offering international criminal and civil searches to the employers hiring for tax season. If an employer chooses to see if his employment candidate has any disturbing history in country of origin, it will have the capability to to check it out.”

Gustavson pointed out that it is important to conduct county criminal and county civil background checks, and federal civil background checks are absolutely necessary. He noted how the majority of white collar crimes are often federal cases.

Why Background Checks Will Help With Nanny Searches

Here is a case that is a curiosity but also one of caution.  Here is a woman who was  hired as a Nanny.  Which means you are supposed to work at the job.  This particular Nanny thought otherwise.  Apparently, she sat in her room, didn’t clean house and didn’t take care of the children.   The couple who hired her tried to fire her and get her out of their house.  She wouldn’t go.

According to the article in CBS Los Angeles….”On Thursday, CBS2 and KCAL9 reporter Amy Johnson picked up the story she first reported Wednesday.

She said new details are emerging about Diane Stretton’s background, including several lawsuits she has filed and that have been filed against her, even cases involving family members.

Johnson spoke to several people, some by phone, and from all over the country, who said they had had legal dealings with Stretton.

Johnson said there are cases involving homeowners association upkeep, traffic accidents, estates, appliance purchases, even rental cars.

Of course, the family was advised to conduct background checks.   But background checks work best as part of the pre-employment screening process.  Running them in the aftermath will only tell you what you just go yourself into.  Be smart and check them out before you hire.

As the technology industry continues to expand in Southern California, Corra Group has extended new types of employment screening services to the start ups and established companies. The El Segundo based background screening company believes that by offering more comprehensive employment screening searches to the different companies they can better identify their top candidates from the highly competitive talent pool.

In a November 19th, 2014 article, Red Herring termed Southern California the third largest technology eco-system in the country,” said Corra Group Co-Founder, Gordon Basichis. “This is the fasted growing technology market, and as such it attracts capital investment from local and global venture capital groups.

“As a Los Angeles based company, we recognize background checks for the technology industry are not one size fits all,” said Basichis. “Technology concerns can cover a wide range of business sectors. The Silicon Beach, as it is known, can vary from the mobile and telecommunications sector to healthcare and media entertainment. Additionally, the private equity groups and financial investors may require background checks to vet the principles they intend to finance. As companies hire more employees, Corra Group is able to provide them with custom employment screening solutions.”
