Corra Group Adds New Social Media Background Check to its Corporate Research and Due Diligence Services

Corra Group has added new social media background checks to enhance its business research and due diligence service. The new social media search will scrape the Internet for any information about a specific individual or corporate entity.

For several years now we have offered social media background checks that were designed principally for employment screening,” said Corra Group co-founder, Gordon Basichis. “These reports are FCRA compliant and therefore require consent forms and are subject to certain constraints on the information reported. For the most part, with employment related social media reports the information returned is either proven fact or actual content written by the candidate on any number of the Internet’s social media sites.

“The due diligence social media reports are a whole different story,” said Basichis. “These reports will mine myriad Internet sources for any information related to the subject, be it an individual or corporate entity. Unlike the employment social media reports, the new instrument will not be rating the information or judging its veracity. It is a data mining tool, searching for anything that is out there on the Internet. Good, bad, or neutral.”

Basichis pointed out that the FCRA compliant social media reports have been used for entertainment and media groups for their hiring efforts related to talent for advertising campaigns, contest winners, and focus groups, as well as reality television shows. He noted private equity and capital investment groups had included the reports with other employment screening background checks to vet their new hires for in house and for mergers and acquisitions.
