Workplace Bullying is Worse Than Thought

Time Magazine has run a feature article concerning workplace bullying and workplace violence.  The article has deduced that workplace bullying is worth than originally thought.  The employer costs for workplace bullying are much greater than imagined.  Couple that with workplace violence and besides the damages and the need for damage control, the costs can be prohibitive.

I have written extensively on workplace bullying and workplace violence.  One such article was entitled, City Compliance and Workplace Violence.   Most experts will advise employers to get out in front of it and get out early.  Even in a dicey economy, the cost cutting measures in not addressing workplace bullying and workplace violence is nothing compared to potential damages through harmed personnel and consequent litigation.

The Time Magazine article…”For all the recent concern over teen bullying, large numbers of adults also deal with peer-to-peer intimidation, especially at work: Approximately one in four U.S. workers say they’ve been bullied on the job, according to the Workplace Bulling Institute.”

We have known nurses and healthcare have undergone workplace bullying and workplace violence for quite sometime.  Patients physically and psychologically abuse their healthcare workers.

As the article attests, workplace bullying is not just a moral problem.  It is also a problem with management and the economic repercussions are considerable.

Corra Group Continues Expansion of International Background Checking Services

This is our recent press release about Corra Group Expansion of International Services.

Corra Group continues its expansion of international background checking services. In addition to international employment screening background checks, Corra Group has been expanding into financial vetting and business research on a global scale.

“As the world continues to develop its global economy, businesses are confronted with new challenges and new concerns,” said Gordon Basichis, Co-Founder of Corra Group. “Some employers are increasingly hiring international workers both domestically and for their foreign offices. These employees need to be vetted, and increasingly their employment histories and their educational histories have to be verified.

“Candidates often lie about where they worked and from what schools they graduated, “said Basichis. “They might think it’s like it was a few years ago, when employers took job applicants at their word and didn’t bother conducting background checks. But it’s not that way anymore. Now most employers verify education and check for international criminal records in the cities and countries where a candidate has lived previously.”
