Here is some good news for California for a change. A state that has been long enduring economic hardships and high rates of unemployment added close to 12,000 jobs in September. According to the Los Angeles Times, the jobless rate fell from 12.1 % to 11.9% in the state. Might be only a couple of decimal points but it is better than nothing.
In all, California has added over a quarter million jobs during the past year. For a state the size of California, it’s a long way to go. California has had the dubious distinction of having second highest unemployment rate in the nation. Nevada has the highest unemployment rate. The region within California that has the highest unemployment rate is the Los Angeles metropolitan area. There it averages around 12.4 percent.
As Corra Group is based in California with a percentage of our business here as well as around the country and in parts of the world, we have noticed an increase in hiring. Old clients and new clients within the state have been calling us about background checks for new hires or for compliance purposes as our client was just awarded a contract where compliance background checks are mandated. It is a good sign.
