Idaho DMV Raises Prices for MVRs

I dare say none of us can name a state that thanks to the economic meltdown and a few other things doesn’t need more money.   Budgetary constraints are rampant from the national level, through the state level, right down to the tiny townships.   To increase revenue states are raising prices for public services.

As Motor Vehicle Driving Records are an essential background check and a key element in Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance, every trucking and transportation firm needs to order MVRs on their drivers at least once every twelve months.   Other employers also require MVRs on their job candidates and their in-house staff of drivers and office staff.

As of January 1st, 2010, can you believe it is the end of the first decade, already, Idaho will be joining that increasingly long list of states by raising its Motor Vehicle Driving Records fees.  As of this date the Idaho Department of Motor Vehicles will increase the cost of its driving records from $6.00 per search to $9.00 per search.

We may not like it, but the is a shortfall at just about every DMV in the country.   Consider it the cost of doing business.  And while Newton’s Law says everything that goes up must come down, I wouldn’t count that happening with the cost  MVR fees anytime soon.

Check them out before you hire.
