A woman is claiming her religious beliefs is reason enough not to submit to fingerprinting.

According to an article on Short News, a female schoolteacher is suing the State of Texas for mandating fingerprints in order to conduct background checks as part of the school boards preemployment screening program.   The woman is a school teacher.

It appears the school teacher doesn’t mind undergoing most background checks.  She only resists the fingerprinting, claiming it is against her religion.  She cites  her literal belief in the Book of Revelations, and claims that fingerprinting is akin to the sign  of the beast.

The TEA, of course, insists she must comply, and so enter the courts. It will be interesting to see how this legal case plays out and if others come forward, refusing aspects of background checks on religious grounds.
