Corra finds it interesting that there may be fewer jobs out there for college grads. But they pay more. Corra has heard some kids quote their starting salaries, and often those salaries are quite impressive.

Corra can guess that perhaps a portion of the Darwin theory is that those who are strongest, smartest and the most creative and innovative are the ones who get what jobs there are out there. Either that, or Daddy has some pull.

Corra hopes that when you hire young college graduates you would run background checks on them. The education verification is a most important background check to determine if your employment candidate actually graduated from the school he claimed on his resume. Some alleged graduates not only didn’t graduate from the school, but never went there at all.

So hire carefully. Interview thoroughly. And check them out before you hire.

For many parts in the United States and throughout the world, local markets must rely on local hires to fullfil their recruitment needs. While they may also recruit from outside the area, many businesses are seasonal and as such they find it easier to hire people who live nearby.

Corra believes it is still essential to conduct background checks on all your job candidates, whether you think you know them or not. A background check is an important tool in determining whether your candidate can bring a criminal records, substance abuse issues or legal troubles to the work place.

Background checks are cost effective and many will return quickly so there is little hold up on the hiring process. And if your employment candidates come from further away, it may be even more reason to run additional background searches. International searches are vital for certain foreign candidates.

Corra gets to talk to its clients from all over the country. From those conversations, Corra is able to determine which industries are going great guns and which are soft or in a downturn. From these conversations, it can also be determined which regions of the country have more robust economies and which are slumping.

As this article attests, the job market is pretty robust in Fargo, North Dakota.

What other articles and reports, pundits, etc., are not saying is that your perspective on the health of the economy can vary according to region and industry. While inflation takes its tool everywhere, the health of the job market varies significantly.

Wherever you are, and if you are hiring, you should be ordering a background check for each of your employment candidates. A background check is a key tool in determining the right candidate for your business. It will confirm they really are who they say they are.

The job market may be down, but Corra finds more businesses are conducting pre-employment background checks on all their new employment candidates. The background check is an important tool for any recruitment program.

While job markets ebb and flow, progressive business leaders will always introduce new elements into their job recruitment programs. And some businesses, like those in the the alternative energy sector, are experiencing advancements as they meet the new global challenges.

Corra continues to expand its services to meet the requirements of the traditional industries as well as the emerging industrial sectors. While the job market may be soft at the moment, the criteria established for recruitment is becoming more demanding than ever.
